This
year I promised to help people going through depressions, bullying,
self-hurts and hate, loss of drives for what they used to love, and
those trying to understand themselves.
You could be dealing with a whole lot of issues which varies from psychological, physical, spiritual, emotional, financial and otherwise.
But what makes you different/distinct in all these life issues is the way and manner it is tackled.
Few days back I stumbled into a friend, an albino! Intellectually sound and a good listener.
We shared our individual’s life stories,
Here is the BULLYING like I mentioned above started!
He told me a line that changed his life and kept him thinking for a long time and the words are still in his psych up till today. He said one of those days in secondary school, while he was about alighting from a commercial bus, his pen fell and there was a delay while searching around. There and then a female passenger said to his hearing, “IF NA ME BORN, I GO JUST KILL AM WHEN IN DEY SMALL!!”
He took those words home, nursed it, and thought about it as days went by.
Dear reader, now I want you to picture this scenario
Have you reacted like that woman, both verbally and/or body language?
Now equate it to your life! Use it to answer some hidden questions in your heart/life.
Let’s talk about BULLYING!
A lot of persons think BULLYING is just when you beat someone up and take from him/her what they are holding.
NO!! It’s not just that.
Let’s look at types of bullying.
There are different types of bullying that can be experienced by children and adults alike. Some are obvious to spot while others can be more subtle. The different types of bullying that we look at below are some of the ways that bullying could be happening.
Physical bullying:
Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, pinching, pushing, damaging of properties etc. Physical bullying causes both short term and long term damage.
Verbal bullying:
Verbal bullying includes name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, jesting, homophobic or racist remarks, verbal abuse etc. While verbal bullying can start off harmless, it can escalate to levels which start affecting the individual target.
Social bullying:
Social bullying, sometimes referred to as covert bullying, is often harder to recognize and can be carried out behind the bullied person's back. It is designed to harm someone's social reputation and/or cause humiliation. Social bullying includes: lying and spreading rumors negative facial or physical gestures, menacing or contemptuous looks playing nasty jokes to embarrass and humiliate mimicking unkindly encouraging others to socially exclude someone damaging someone's social reputation or social acceptance.
Cyber bullying:
Cyber bullying can be overt or covert bullying behavior’s using digital technologies, including hardware such as computers and smartphones, and software such as social media, instant messaging, texts, websites and other online platforms.
Cyber bullying can happen at any time. It can be in public or in private and sometimes only known to the target and the person bullying. Cyber bullying can include: Abusive or hurtful texts, emails or posts, images or videos deliberately excluding others online, nasty gossip or rumors, Imitating others online or using their log-in etc.
Looking at those insights I mentioned above, you see that bullying cuts across all works of life and human existence, but how you handle it matters a lot.
And in the way trying to work on it make sure it’s from the positive perspective.
Now more to come on this, a lot of people are going through this, but hey depression shouldn’t be your bus stop you can take a bold step and jump out of it.
